Javier P. Burgos, D.O.
As a fellow in Infectious Diseases, Dr. Burgos not only acquired extensive clinical experience, but also had the opportunity to present his work in the annual meetings of the Infectious Disease Society of America. His last project in “Multi Drug Resistant Klebsiella Pneumoniae and treatment with tigecycline” was a poster presentation at the 2007 Infectious Disease Society of America meeting. His case reports “Gemella Morbillorum Endocarditis” and “Strongyloides Stercoralis Hyper-infection Syndrome” have been accepted for publication. As a researcher, he has worked with nationally recognized Infectious Disease physicians.
Dr. Burgos joined Infectious Disease Associates of Tampa Bay in 2007. He will be appointed Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine. His areas of special interest are: infections by gram negative resistant microorganisms, infections in immunocompromised hosts, and travel medicine.
Dr. Burgos is a member of several professional organizations, including: the IDSA, American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Society of Microbiology, and the American Osteopathic Association. His active participation in the New York State re-integration program to help minority students become medical assistants has been recognized with several teaching awards at the Center for Employment Training. |
