Cynthia A. Mayer, D.O., F.A.C.O.I.

MayerDr. Cynthia A. Mayer attended college at the University of Florida, majoring in Nutrition and Dietetics. After graduating from West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, she completed her internship and residency at Sun Coast Osteopathic Hospital and her fellowship at the University of South Florida College of Medicine. She is board certified in Internal Medicine as well as in Infectious Diseases. Dr. Mayer has been elected a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Internist. She presently holds academic appointments at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine, and Des Moines University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences. She is also a member of the teaching faculty at Sun Coast Osteopathic Hospital and has been awarded the Morris R. Osattin Outstanding Lecturer of the Year Award twice by the Sun Coast Hospital staff. She is named in several editions of “The Best Doctors in America”. Dr. Mayer joined Infectious Disease Associates of Tampa Bay in 1993.

Dr. Mayer is the Associate Medical Director of the Pinellas Care Clinic and the Medical Director of the St. Joseph’s Comprehensive Research Institute -where she works diligently to advance knowledge through cutting edge research. She participates in several professional organizations and has given numerous presentations. Her areas of interest include: HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, transplant and orthopedic infectious diseases, infections in chronically ill patients, and research.
